Designing and Manufacturing Microwave and Antenna-Based Sensors for Sustainability
With the potential to detect various measurands a holistic approach for designing microwave sensors is required to ensure their environmental footprint does not off-set their benefits. This talk introduces methods of integrating smart sensing materials with microwave passives (antennas and resonators) and read-out circuits (transceivers and detectors) for long-range wireless sensing. The ecological footprint of microwave and sensors, compared to their ‘conventional’ counterparts will also be discussed based on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and additive manufacturing techniques.
