D-Band Building Blocks for Wireless Communication, Radar, and Imaging

The requirement for small footprint communication system, radar, or imager without any compromise in the system performance such as angular resolution raises the need to increase the Transmitter/Receiver frequency. D-band is a practical high-frequency range that enables meeting the goal. A low-cost high-performance D-band radar system design requires novel Si and package technology development. In this work, we will present system design considerations and critical sub-THz building blocks such as D-band wide-bandwidth LNA, frequency multipliers for D- and J-band, Dicke switch for D-band FPA, complete passive imager detector chain and more. These components are required for radar, wireless communication, and imager systems.
