Gait Analysis with mm-Wave Radar and Harmonic Tags

A FMCW mm-wave radar technology is being used for the purpose of gait analysis. A hip-mounted radar front-end (60/120GHz) measures the distance and angle to multiple harmonic tags attached to the legs. The active tags provide a strong RF response at the harmonic frequency, which is converted to a clutter-free response in the IF band. Therefore, the tags can be clearly distinguished from the linear radar response of the body or ground. System design, measurement principle, signal processing and results are the focus of this workshop.
