Introduction to the Proposed High-Power Electric Generation and WPT Demonstration Mission

Based on the proposed SPS roadmap of China, a 1MW SPS pilot system should be developed after 2030. Before that time, the high-power electric generation and the wireless power transmission (WPT) technologies need to be demonstrated in space. This paper shows a proposed high-power WPT demonstration mission in space after 2025. Two spacecraft need to be launched to demonstrate high-power thin-film solar array technology, OMEGA solar power technology, high voltage electric generation technology, kW laser transmission technology and kW microwave transmission technology. The mission will be the first step to demonstrate SPS.
