Adaptive mm-Wave MIMO Front-Ends for Energy-Efficient Sensing

This talk will review the development of mm-wave joint communications and sensing using large-scale transmit and receive arrays at 140GHz that would support energy efficient feature detection. We propose circuit techniques that enable coding for MIMO radar that will support better utilization of the aperture. Code-domain correlation in the receiver is also demonstrated for energy-efficient estimation of multiple transmitters at once. We present circuit techniques based on low-resolution transmitter arrays and phase-oversampling receiver arrays for reduced power consumption.
